Awning Mechanism Repair and Fabric Replacement for JAYCO TERRAIN Let a Jayco Terrain awning sit with torn or UV-compromised fabric and you’re inviting water into the fiberglass cap and accelerating corrosion of the mounting brackets — costs spiral fast once that starts. The Thule HideAway system on the Terrain’s Transit 350 platform fails predictably: fabric … Read more

Electrical Inverter and Shore Power Integration Service for JAYCO TERRAIN I pulled the corroded shore power connector out of a Terrain last month and the three prongs inside the TT-30R inlet were black — literally oxidized copper from moisture and micro-arcing over two seasons of intermittent use. The previous owner had no idea why his … Read more

Electrical Inverter and Shore Power Integration Service for WINNEBAGO TRAVATO “Drew, my Travato’s inverter keeps throwing fault codes, but a buddy said it might not actually be the inverter—it could be the shore power connection or the batteries themselves. How do I know what’s really broken?” That question landed in my inbox from a full-timer … Read more

Roof Seal and Skylight Maintenance for WINNEBAGO TRAVATO I’m up on the Travato’s roof with my fingers tracing the seam where the ProMaster’s steel transitions into fiberglass at the rear cap, and I can feel it immediately — a slight gap where the factory sealant has turned chalky and pulled away from the edge. This … Read more

Awning Mechanism Repair and Fabric Replacement for WINNEBAGO TRAVATO A dealer quoted me $2,400 in labor alone to swap out a shredded Thule HideAway awning on a Travato — no parts, no sealant, just the hours to unbolt it, pull the fabric, and bolt the new one back down. That’s the moment you realize a … Read more

Electrical Inverter and Shore Power Integration Service for THOR SEQUENCE Most Thor Sequence owners never catch the slow decay happening inside their inverter until the rig is parked in the middle of nowhere with no power and no cell signal. The Xantrex Freedom XC’s shore power relay corrodes from the inside out, battery terminals loosen … Read more

Roof Seal and Skylight Maintenance for THOR SEQUENCE How much water damage can hide behind a ceiling panel before it becomes unfixable? More than you’d think. I’ve opened up Thor Sequence vans where the owner spotted soft drywall or warped cabinetry, assumed the water heater was sweating, and ended up finding structural rot that traced … Read more

Awning Mechanism Repair and Fabric Replacement for THOR SEQUENCE I was parked at a BLM site outside Quartzsite in February when a gust caught my Sequence’s awning mid-deployment and the fabric tore straight across the roller hem. Wind kept hammering it, and I couldn’t retract the thing fully — the motor was grinding and the … Read more

Roof Seal and Skylight Maintenance for ROADTREK ZION You’ll hear two completely opposite stories about Roadtrek Zion roof maintenance depending on who you ask. Dealers tell you the EPDM membrane is maintenance-free and you should only call them if something visibly leaks — which is backwards advice that costs owners thousands. The people who actually … Read more

Roof Seal and Skylight Maintenance for PLEASURE-WAY ASCENT The Pleasure-Way Ascent sits on a Ford Transit 148″ extended low roof, and that particular combination has taught me something most generic RV roof advice misses: the Transit’s body panels flex during highway driving in ways that crack lap sealant faster than the RV industry expects. I’ve … Read more
