RV Slide-Out Motor and Gear Replacement I’m lying on my back under the slide frame with my phone flashlight wedged between my teeth, watching the drive gear spin freely on a shaft that’s doing absolutely nothing to push the rack anymore. The motor’s still getting power — I tested continuity twice — but the internal … Read more

RV Awning Fabric and Motor Replacement A full awning replacement on a DRV Mobile Suite can run you $1,200 to $1,800 through a dealer — and that’s before labor. RV Awning Fabric and Motor Replacement I’m standing on a ladder with the awning rolled halfway out, fabric bunched in one corner like it’s been punted by a toddler, and I can already hear the motor grinding underneath. This is the moment I realize that knowing how to fix what’s broken isn’t just about staying … Read more

RV Water Heater Thermostat and Heating Element Replacement The Suburban water heater in a Forest River Impression sits tucked behind the galley, running on both propane and 120-volt electric — and that dual-fuel setup is exactly why a lot of owners either call a tech or end up chasing phantom problems for weeks. A bad … Read more

RV Awning Fabric and Motor Replacement Most RV owners treat awning failures like isolated incidents—a motor dies, they replace the motor. Fabric shreds, they buy new fabric. But after 80,000 miles and enough rig breakdowns to fill a service manual, I’ve learned that awnings don’t fail that way. On a Brinkley Model Z, when something … Read more

RV Water Heater Thermostat and Heating Element Replacement It was a metallic pop-and-click sound at first—sharp enough that I heard it from outside the rig, standing near the propane locker. Turned out to be the reset button on a Brinkley Model Z water heater, cycling itself into submission because the thermostat had quit talking to … Read more
