Step 5: Physical Pump Removal

Set the new pump in the exact spot where the old one sat, with inlet and outlet ports aligned so your existing lines will reach without kinks. Thread your mounting screws through the rubber feet and into the floor, tightening until firm but not crushingly tight. The rubber should still give slightly when you press on it; over-tightening compresses the mounts and actually increases noise instead of reducing it.
Step 7: Plumbing Reconnection and Testing
Reconnect both water lines, being fanatic about inlet going to inlet and outlet to outlet. Swapped connections will destroy the pump or prevent it from working at all. Hand-tighten first, then add one quarter-turn with the wrench. Don’t gorge these—cracked plastic fittings and crushed O-rings are the reward for over-tightening. Before you hook power back up, test for leaks by connecting your city water line at very low pressure and watching all four connection points for drips over a couple of minutes. Once you’re leak-free, reconnect your two pump wires, red to red and black to black, with fresh connectors. Drop the fuse back in, switch on the pump, and listen for the cycling sound that means water pressure is building. Open each faucet one at a time, running water until it flows steady without stuttering or spitting—that’s air purging from the lines, and once it stops, you’re done.
