Slide-Out Hydraulic Service for NEWMAR KING AIRE “Drew, my King Aire slides are moving like they’re underwater. One’s getting stuck halfway out, and I’m losing fluid somewhere underneath. Is this something I can handle myself, or am I in over my head?” That’s the question I got from Mark at a rally in Arizona last … Read more

Slide-Out Hydraulic Service for FOREST RIVER BERKSHIRE Walk into any RV dealer service bay and ask about a sluggish Berkshire slide-out, and you’ll hear one story. Post the same problem in an online forum and you’ll hear another — usually the opposite. One camp says “top off your fluid and bleed the air,” the other … Read more

RV Slide-Out Motor and Gear Replacement Is your Montana’s slide grinding partway out, then locking up? Or worse—stuck halfway extended at a campground with no dealer within 200 miles? I’ve been there, and I’ve watched plenty of owners panic and accept a $2,000+ service bill when the actual fix runs closer to $400 and an … Read more

RV Slide-Out Motor and Gear Replacement Your Jayco North Point’s owner’s manual will tell you to contact an authorized dealer if the slide-out binds or won’t operate. What it won’t say: a dealer service write-up for a failed motor and worn gear assembly can run $1,500–$2,500 in labor alone, and by the time you get … Read more

RV Slide-Out Motor and Gear Replacement Most RV owners assume their slide-out motor will fail gracefully—a little noise, maybe some hesitation, then a clean stop. That’s not how it works. What actually happens is the motor burns itself out fighting a misaligned rack or seized gears, and by the time you notice something’s wrong, you’ve … Read more

RV Slide-Out Motor and Gear Replacement I’m lying on my back under the slide frame with my phone flashlight wedged between my teeth, watching the drive gear spin freely on a shaft that’s doing absolutely nothing to push the rack anymore. The motor’s still getting power — I tested continuity twice — but the internal … Read more

DRV Mobile Suites Slide-Out Motor and Gear Replacement Most DRV Mobile Suites owners wait until their slide-out grinds to a halt before they even think about the motor and gear system underneath. By then, you’ve usually done damage—stripped teeth on the rack, a motor that’s burned itself out fighting metal-on-metal friction, or a gear assembly … Read more
