RV Electrical & Power Hub: Batteries, Solar, Inverters & Converters

5 min read

Twelve-volt problems are the ones most owners hand to a shop, and they are also the ones where a shop’s diagnostic hour costs more than every part involved. The reason is that almost nothing in an RV electrical system fails in an interesting way. A converter that will not charge, lights that dim when the pump runs, a battery bank that reads full and dies by midnight, an inverter that trips under a load it handled last year — these come down to a loose lug, a corroded ground, a tired battery, or a fuse nobody checked. What you need is not expertise so much as a sequence: measure at the battery, measure at the load, and find where the voltage went. These guides cover batteries and lithium conversions, solar and MPPT controllers, inverters, converters, shore power, and the wiring between them.
